Signals in the Way of St James
00in Noticias

The correct signal in the Way of St James is some fundamental, mainly because its original route is undergoing with the roads construction, the parcel concentration and the opening of motorways and carriageways. To help to avoid confusions there are a lot of people that signal routes, such as Associations of Friends of the Way, that carry more than 30 years working to recover the importance that had in the Middle Ages the Jocobea Route.

Moreover of the yellow arrows, the signal most important in the Way, there are others that sign the route to Compostela, such as the milestone, that is decorated with the symbol of shells on the blue bottom, symbol that identify the Cultural European Itinerary. This milestones mark the distance to Santiago.

Some community which go the Way have its own signal (moreover the yellow arrows). So, in Navarra, the pilgrim is finding with signals GR 65 (Path of Big Route) and its features red and withe stripe. Also it is use tiles with a Shell in a milestone or in the walls.

In la Rioja only is use yellow arrows such in Castilla del Norte, although in the region of Leon was made a poster with a lion dressed of pilgrim that hardly have used.

In the Galician community predominate milestones finding each 500 metres. In 1993 la Xunta of Galicia start a plan to recover the Jacobea Route and one of its mains actions was signed it.
